Science and Children Online: Oct 2002

One of our goals at Science and Children is to make use of the Internet to provide our members with as many resources as possible. This month, look for a great collection of links that will enhance your activities. For example, if you're looking to take your students on a kite-flying adventure like the authors of Let's Go Fly a Kite!, you'll find detailed plans for making different kinds of kites at the Australian Kite Association site. Or link to some classic robot games that teach some of the same processes that are featured in Real World Robotics.

The online version of How Deep Is the Water? includes a downloadable and printable data worksheet to help your students complete the stream depth simulation. Look for the highlighted link within the article. You will need the Acrobat Reader plug-in to download the worksheet. For teachers who like the idea of teaching aquatic monitoring without leaving the classroom, this article also features an online-only activity using a data logger and probes to investigate a classroom aquarium. Special thanks to the Jason Academy for providing this activity.
